SpeedySparrow Pty Ltd Customer Reviews

I submitted a review a while back under "gamervoid". As I am approaching one year of utilizing SpeedySparrow, I figured I would update my review.

They did have one major issue in September (though the datacenter was ultimately at fault). However, they did not give up and say "Oh man. Your data is lost". They acted very professionally and got websites up comparably quickly.

Their support is still very top-notch. If I am not mistaken, they have added some staff. Ticket response on "medium" priority is generally under 30 minutes, often 15 or less.

They now are hosting from the DimeNOC datacenter in Orlando, FL, USA. Speeds have been very good. My site loads in under 2-2.5 seconds for me.

They still utilize CloudLinux so that your account will 99% of the time not be slowed by one resource hog on the server.

Their prices are very competitive, and I would recommend them to anyone. The staff are very respectful. Sean (CEO) is very active in their little forums and other places (so, he's not the hiding CEO making billions and evilly planning world domination — well I can't be sure about the domination part, but whatever!)...

So go try them out. Their legal stuff is plain English. No insane legalese to read. No hidden resource limits - what is advertised is what you get.

Although SpeedySparrow is the first webhost I have had, I have read tons and tons of horror stories about other hosts. Before I found SpeedySparrow, I had no idea who to pick. On WebHostingTalk, SpeedySparrow has an established reputation for quick support (usually issues resolved within a couple hours, not a day). Also, when you get a response, it is not like a "canned" type, it is one that you can tell is actually written. In addition to that, no question is stupid to them, and you will get a respectful answer every time.

Uptime: SpeedySparrow's uptime is excellent. Sometimes slow -- HOWEVER - that might be CloudFlare (they're being attacked). And for the price, you just cannot beat it.

FEATURES:

And the icing on the cake - a 30 day money back guarantee.

I can easily recommend SpeedySparrow. There is nothing to lose.

I signed up with SpeedySparrow in February 2011, so I've been with them for more than 6 months. Previously, I was using BlueHost. I have no experience with any other paid web hosting service, so this review on SpeedySparrow will use BlueHost as a reference.

I run a healthcare consulting firm and my needs are quite modest - a site for my firm (www.tehandassociates.com) which incorporates a blog and a membership site. In addition, I also have a (new) personal blog (www.epiguru.com). All are now hosted on SpeedySparrow's Drizzle package and powered by WordPress.

Compared to BlueHost, there are many things to like about SpeedySparrow but in summary they are: speed, support, reliability, value.

SPEED
With download times increasingly becoming an important factor in user experience and Google's search ranking algorithm, I wanted my sites to be reasonably fast, i.e. faster than how it was running on BlueHost. With the latter, the homepage took between 4-5 seconds to load - way too long - even when optimized. With SpeedySparrow, page load times are down to 1-2 seconds, which are fast enough for me. I know the site can be faster (e.g. with VPS) but for now, my needs are well served by SpeedySparrow's shared hosting. Since moving to SpeedyServer, visits to my sites have gone up, bounce rates are significantly reduced, and user experience has been enhanced.

SUPPORT
Set up was really easy. Sean (he's also the owner of SpeedySparrow) helped to move the database over to their server - there were no problems at all.

Whenever I submitted a ticket (only a handful of times), the issue was resolved promptly, i.e. within hours and sometimes, within minutes. Support staff have always been courteous, even with someone like me who doesn't understand much about the technical aspects of web hosting. In contrast, I found the support from BlueHost slow to respond (usually about 24 hours or longer) and quite impersonal.

I particularly appreciate the level of communication provided by SpeedySparrow - not too much and not too little, just right. For example, they occasionally send e-mails informing customers of issues with their server that might be contributing to downtime and what they were doing about it. I like this candidness (customers will find out about the downtime sooner or later anyway), which is in stark contrast to BlueHost, where there were numerous periods of unexplained downtime - I had no idea what was going on, why the downtimes were occuring, what was being done to fix the problem, how long the downtimes would last. After 6 months with SpeedySparrow, I'm pretty confident that their customers will be kept up-to-date about major changes that might affect their sites.

RELIABILITY
Since moving to their Data Center in New Jersey, reliability has been excellent. Previously, I experienced intermittent episodes of downtime (far fewer than when using BlueHost), which SpeedySparrow acknowledged and remedied by moving to the new Data Center.

VALUE
The current Drizzle package that I'm using offers very good value. I did quite a lot of research when I needed a change of web host, and SpeedySparrow's shared hosting packages looked like delivering the right balance between features and affordability. SpeedySparrow has not disappointed. I don't need all the bells and whistles (most of which I don't even understand), and I certainly don't need unlimited space and bandwidth (of which I would use very little). Instead, I need sufficient space and bandwidth, reliability and speed - SpeedySparrow delivers on all counts.

Anyone looking for an fast, reliable, and affordable web host with top-notch customer service should consider SpeedySparrow.

I have promissed this review sometime ago to Sean on a support ticket to be on my website, but since my website is in portuguese and most people here probably don't read portuguese, i will be posting a english review ^^
I will be posting a more detailed one on my website tomorrow if anyone wanna read... but well... portuguese.

I created this account for two reasons: To find a new webhost for my new project (that is adult based, so can't host with SpeedySparrow since they run with LiteSpeed) and to post this review about they great service.

So let's see... first of all, sorry for my english. I'm not really good with it yet... still learning.

I have been with SpeedySparrow for about a month now i think. I'm hosting a small website, personal one to share my knowledge about WordPress, SEO, website optimization, Android and Ubuntu, running on WordPress with lots of optimizations and some plugins on it.

My default page load time is about 1 second on the first view, and instant on the second view on this webhost. For the matter of comparasion, my last webhost, PacificHost, with the same plugins and optimizations than with SpeedySparrow, used to load in 3 seconds on first view. Not much i agree, but i'm kinda adicted to speed.

They plans are very great, with lots of great features (CloudLinux + LiteSpeed + eAccelerator + CloudFlare = win) and i supose they do some optimizations on they servers too. eAccelerator is installed by default on shared hosting, what helped me choose then in the first place.

So far i have 100% uptime with them and no problem at all. They speed is awesome, they plans are the same and they support... holy mother of god... they support is just the best i have ever found.

I have hosted websites for some clients in HostGator before and thought they had the best support ever... untill finding SpeedySparrow. They support is so great they actualy become your friends... and i can say i see Sean as a friend now, cause not only he gave me a insane support (over tickets AND twitter) but he also helped me with stuffs that maybe he isn't even obligated to help.

My next project, the adult one... he actualy searched about the hosts i asked them about to see if they was good and stuffs... he searched and saved my time a lot, cause i probably would get scammed without him.

For all that, the awesome support (even before i hosted with them, Sean was already helping me on Twitter), the awesome speed, plans and pricing... i have to say: SpeedySparrow is just the best host i have ever seen.

To be better they only had to let me host my adult project... then it would be perfect xD
If anyone wanna test the speed you can see my website, just google "Julian Fernandes" and look for a domain with ".br" on the final.... it's the first result here (i'm not sure i can post urls here, sorry).

Thanks for your time everyone... and thank SpeedySparrow for the host ^^
Oh, almost forgot... i'm using they Shared Host plans ^^

Matt Tobin (Binary Outcast) Jul 01, 2011

Binary Outcast (and other sites I run) came from EIG's (Endurance International Group) latest acquisition Netfirms. Our pre-sign up questions were answered very quickly, as was setup after we decided to make SS our new home. We noticed the difference between NF's aging system/EIG's system right away. The servers are super fast and quite easy to get everything transferred.

During our transition to SS and SpeedySparrows own transitions to their new data center little to no problems happened. However, when something would hiccup Sean and his staff were right there to fix it. Tickets and support requests got a response from as little as 2 minutes to half an hour at the very longest (only one occasion). I found the level of support to be excellent and all of the staff to be very nice and quick to solve my issue or answer my questions. Sean as the CEO of SpeedySparrow is uncharacteristically very involved with the day to day happenings on SS. Usually when I require something Sean is there to help me out. In the event Sean is not available others have done so with equal care and proficiency.

I have been with many web hosts though out the years from Freeservers to HostUltra, HostGator, and Netfirms but none have the level of general understanding in support issues to the specialized understanding of things of more complexity. Sean and the rest of the SpeedySparrow staff have not only solved every issue I have had but did it with a personal touch that is simply unseen in most other web hosts. The hosting package levels are fairly and very competitively priced with server availability and features that most web hosts do not even offer.

I feel very much at home on SpeedySparrow and if there is one web host I would recommend to anyone and everyone it would be this one.
